WHAT'S INCLUDED:

Intro Holistic Approach for Preparing for Postpartum

What is the 4th trimester and what is matrescence?  What transitions will you be facing as a new mom? What symptoms and experiences do many women face that we may not hear about from friends and family? How do we return back to the roots and foundation of what giving birth and postpartum should be and look like?  You are designed to do this but somewhere down the road our society taught us to second guess our natural abilities.

What this course will give you:

  • Confidence in your body
  • Generational holistic wisdom
  • Network of experts knowledge
  • Connections with a village of mothers

Class 1 / Midwife FAQ

One of the biggest concerns most women have after giving birth is knowing what symptoms are normal versus ones that might be of concern.  In this class, we learn from a seasoned midwife Aubrey Tompkins, CNM about what mothers should be aware of and what necessitates further intervention. She also answers many of those questions you have after you've already left your appointment.

What We'll Learn:

  • What are the normal symptoms to have postpartum
  • What signs or symptoms you should be aware of
  • When should you reach out to your provider
  • What myths about postpartum should you disregard
  • Plus, many questions you have, but forgot to ask!

Class 2 / Preparing for Breastfeeding

While breastfeeding should be a natural and easy event after birth, many women find it completely unnatural and not at all easy. However, with preparation, knowledge, and the right resources, we can turn a possibly challenging experience into a successful, stress free journey.

What We'll Work on:

  • Identifying common challenges with breastfeeding and knowledge of what to do
  • Learning what to expect in the first few days, what newborn behaviors to expect, and how to create a plan for those first days and weeks to
  • Practicing the suggestions of how to get an ideal latch with various positions

Class 3 / Nutritional Support For Optimal Recovery

To heal and recover after birth you need to focus on optimal nutrition. This includes being intentional about what we include in our postpartum diet with higher nutritional value that ward off conditions such as hypothyroidism and postpartum depression. Which foods should you be focused on including and why? Which foods should you generally be avoiding and why?

What We'll Work on:

  • How to set yourself up for postpartum nutritional success
  • Learning which foods you want for healing and which foods to avoid
  • Knowledge of which supplements are optimal and which whole food sources are ideal

Class 4/ Postpartum Mood Support and Guidance

Nearly every woman will face some sort of mood challenges postpartum with all our hormone fluctuations and the many postpartum adjustments we undergo.  Many women don't recognize there is something wrong or how to manage the symptoms they are feeling. This class helps you recognize the transitions you are facing, helps you shift your expectations, provides tools to help you ground yourself, and how to accept help.

What We'll Work on:

  • Understanding the many adjustments and shifts we go through after we have a baby
  • Learning how to manage our shifts in perspective to soften our expectations of ourselves
  • Identifying the differences between the different mood disorders we can face as new moms
  • Practicing how to ground ourselves and how to accept help from others

Class 5/ Movement Postpartum and Rehab

Why is rest so important? Understanding the changes your body goes through. How to manage symptoms such as urinary incontinence, heaviness, and diastasis recti. When can you start moving after having a baby?  What movements can you begin postpartum and how to progress them?

What We'll Work on:

  • Understanding what symptoms to be aware of
  • Learning about common physical symptoms & what to do
  • Practicing the 5 movement pillar through gradual and progressive rehab movements

Class 6/ Returning To Sex & Intimacy After Baby

Let's talk about what no one else does postpartum: SEX. There is so much that goes behind sex and intimacy postpartum and all we get from our providers is a discussion about birth control and a possible "just relax" and use lube. This isn't enough. We teach you how to communicate with your partner about sex, how to physically and mentally prepare your body for sex for the first time after baby, and tips for regaining your mojo.

What We'll Work on:

  • Learn the best discussion points  to help you improve your communication  with your partner involving sex and intimacy
  • Understanding why you may not be wanting sex, but desiring intimacy
  • Learn how to prepare your body physically and mentally for the return to sex after baby to make it an experience of connection you're looking forward to and not fearing

Class 7  / Herbal Support for Postpartum

Herbs have been used throughout much of human history and across many cultures. Herbs can be used in a variety of ways from internally through teas, extracts, and capsules, along with externally through salves and compresses. They have incredible healing properties that many modern medication have modeled. You will learn ways herbs can help you navigate the many symptoms you may face postpartum through a natural more holistic approach.

What We'll Work on:

  • Understanding how to use herbs as part of your postpartum healing journey
  • Learn dozens of remedies to support you from scar healing to general soreness to constipation to mood support, breastfeeding issues and more.
  • Gain a huge recipe list of how to make your own teas, tinctures, and salves to manage the many postpartum symptoms

A Message From Our Creators

As a mom, YOU deserve more.

This course is made for YOU and all of the other mothers who felt:

  • Blindsided by all the things they didn’t know
  • Confused by who to see about their postpartum symptoms
  • A lack of confidence in trusting their body for what may be normal versus a concern
  • Unsure on what information to trust
  • Alone and left behind after having their baby

We no longer have the family and interconnected community to pass down and share information to support postpartum women.

You need to be cared for and you need to know what to expect to be able to thrive in your transition into motherhood known as Matrescence

This is where our course, The Holistic Approach to Preparing for Postpartum, comes in!

This course was created by two moms in health care on a mission to make a change for new moms in their postpartum journey. Nichelle Gurule, a Colorado-based Webster Certified Doctor of Chiropractor, and Katie Braswell, a Tennessee-based Holistic Nutritionist, are both deeply inspired by the need to support more moms.

Why The Wild Mama Course?

As the saying goes it takes a village.  And like any village, there are certain specialties that others have.

The diversity of experts is what sets The Wild Mama Courses and Method apart from other online curriculums.

Our team includes a Certified Nurse Midwife, a Doctor of Chiropractic, a CSCS Personal Trainer, an International Board Lactation Consultant, a Clinical Herbalist, a Homeopathy Practitioner, a Holistic Nutritionist, a Birth Doula, a Postpartum Doula, and a Therapist.

The diversity of experts, along with the first-hand mom experience each speaker has, puts truth behind each word spoken.  Not only have each and everyone one of them experienced some, if not all of the struggles that are associated with postpartum, they continuously help other mothers in a group or private practice.

Common Questions

When Can I Start?

The most ideal time to start The Holistic Approach to Preparing for Postpartum Online Course would be in your third trimester of pregnancy or in the beginning weeks postpartum. We find that third trimester of pregnancy is ideal because postpartum is right around the corner and allows you to best prepare for the weeks after baby. But don't this suggestion deter you from embarking on learning about postpartum during other times.

Some women like to be extra prepared and begin during their fertility journey, others in their 1st and 2nd trimester. We also have many health professionals who want to learn more about postpartum take our course such as:   birth doulas, postpartum doulas, personal trainers, physical therapists, chiropractors, nutritionist, lactation consultants, and more!

Can I enroll even if I am still pregnant?

Yes, absolutely! In fact, the most ideal time to start learning about postpartum would be during your pregnancy.  We recommend the third trimester, but anytime during your pregnancy is a great time to learn and prepare yourself for what to expect after your baby arrives.

How long on the sessions?

As moms, we know you have limited time! If you're pregnant, you may be exhausted with a million to do list items to check off and have limited time in your day to watch videos. If you're a new mom, you are tired, have a baby to tend to, and just don't have enough time to sit down for hour chunks.

To sit down and learn for an hour for most of us, is just not going to happen. This is why we have broken our classes down into lessons that are 10-20 minutes of learning at a time and have references and guides for you to down the information to view on your phone or print out. Many moms who pump as part of their breastfeeding journey have commented that the length of the lessons is enough to watch one per pump session and keep you engaged during a tedious task!

Are the session live or recorded?

Our lessons are recorded! This was done intentionally! You are a busy mama or mama to be and to get on at a specific time, is just way too hard. We want you to be able to take this course on your own time without any pressure.

We also have our private facebook group for you to ask all those questions you may have asked during a live session. So, while we may not be live, you can still reach out to us!

Is this course only for first time mamas?

No, this class is for mamas at any stage. In fact, so much of this information in regards to nutrition, mood support, movement, herbs, and homeopathy is valuable health information for all stages of life! This course is packed with so much that mamas on their second, third, and fourth kids are still finding such a huge value. However, they only regret not having this information for their first time around.

Our dream is to get as many first time mamas to take our course as possible, so they are not blind sided by postpartum like most moms.

I am having twins, does this still apply to me?

Yes, this course will be valuable for twin mamas! While we may not have lessons regarding how to manage twins with tandem feeding or sleep schedules, we have the information you need for healing your body after birth, breastfeeding, how to return to movement, ways to heal with herbs and homeopathy, mood support and guidance, and more.

Β How much time will this require?

This course is designed  to be broken up and taken gradually in our 10-20 min chunks. All together you can expect roughly 10 hours of content with guides and references to download.

Having babies are expensive, Im worried about the cost. Is it worth it?

You will save yourself so much time, money, and energy in the long term with this course. We have experts in each field giving you the must know information to navigate postpartum. While there may be providers who join your team postpartum, you will gain so much information in each area that you will often be able to solve an issue before it becomes a bigger problem.

The value of information you gain in this course will allow you to have a happier and healthier postpartum journey, which does not have a price tag. We all know what it is like to pour money into all the new things for baby (many of items us veteran moms know we don't actually need, we just thought we did) and our nurseries, but what most people wish is that they had spent some of that money on their mental and physical health after baby.

Mama, you deserve to know more!

You are built to do this.

But the age-old wisdom that has guided so many have been forgotten and not shared.

We are here to bring back that knowledge and community that is needed and should be expected for birth and postpartum support.

Let us help you have the postpartum experience every mother should
